YOUTH ORGANISATIONS
It’s quite natural that young people want to communicate with their peers and express their point of view. They join youth organisations, clubs and societies. The main goal of these organisations is to involve young people into socially useful activities such as sporting events, volunteering, taking care of veterans and helping the old, carrying out some ecological projects and doing other things.
There are a lot of youth organisations in Belarus. The most important of them are: the Belarusian Republican Youth Union (the BRSM), the Belarusian Republican Pioneer Organization, UNESCO Clubs and so on. These organisations help young people realise their full potential, take their place in society and contribute to their education. Young people are given the opportunities to show their skills and talents. They are involved in a lot of activities. Young people experience new challenges that enrich their lives, they learn how to set and achieve goals. These organisations also promote tolerance of diversity.
For example the Belarusian Republican Youth Union (BRSM) supports creative and talented youth. It gives young people a chance to be involved in indoor and outdoor activities, in social events, in memorial ceremonies. Moreover, the BRSM organises student construction brigades and gives a chance for young people to make money, feel adventure and test themselves.
UNESCO Clubs provide opportunities for young people in getting to know the national culture and the culture of other countries. UNESCO conferences allow young people to practice English and learn how to solve different problems.
I believe that it doesn’t matter whether you’re a member of a youth club or not. Every day we have the chance to make our and someone else’s life better. To build a more peaceful world, we need to build peace in our everyday lives. No matter how small, everyday acts of kindness can help make peace a reality; whether it is standing up for somebody in trouble, saying sorry, reconnecting with an old friend, or helping somebody in need. Wherever you are, at home, school, or work, you can help improve the quality of the lives of the people around you, including your family, classmates or friends.

I have never joined any youth organizations, probably, because I haven’t found anything special or interesting for my personal development. I’m very busy with my studies, besides I’ve got a lot of interests and hobbies. I learn Polish, visit fitness club and dancing classes. I can express myself in various activities organized at school: concerts, sports competitions, class meetings and parties, and of course at my everyday classes.
